Pareto Principle (80:20)
Pareto Principle in MLP Analytics
The Pareto Principle, applied in MLP Analytics, allows teachers to focus on the most critical areas where students face challenges. By identifying the 20% of questions causing 80% of errors, teachers can refine their teaching strategies to address these pain points effectively.
Steps to Access Pareto Principle Analytics
Locate the MLP Analytics Option
Click on the 3 dots below the action column of the specific MLP.
Select Analytics from the dropdown menu. (OR)
Click on the orange icon
under the 80:20 tab for the particular MLP.
View MLP Analytics Page
The MLP Analytics page will open, displaying a graph.
Understand the Graph
The y-axis shows the number of students who answered a question incorrectly.
The x-axis lists the question numbers in descending order based on the number of incorrect responses.
Click on the graph line to view the exact number of students who answered a particular question incorrectly.
Analyze Question Details
Scroll down to see a detailed list of questions from the MLP.
Beside each question, a fraction will indicate performance:
Numerator: Number of students who answered incorrectly.
Denominator: Total number of students who attempted the question.
Example: If "Q1" shows 1/2, it means 1 student out of 2 answered the question incorrectly.
Benefits of the Pareto Principle in MLP Analytics
Focus on Critical Errors: Prioritize questions with the highest number of incorrect responses.
Refined Teaching: Adjust instructional methods to address common misconceptions.
Enhanced Student Learning: Targeted interventions to improve knowledge in weaker areas.
